November 13th, 2012 was the much anticipated release day of the biggest book of the year: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel by Jeff Kinney, published by Amulet Books! Jeff toured seven states and reached forty-nine booksellers in the Midwest. Learn more about the tour here, and go behind the scenes of the last leg of the tour and Jeff’s Today Show appearance after the break!

2012 marked the 3rd appearance of the giant helium Greg Heffley Wimpy Kid balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It is always exciting to walk, but even more so when the weather is terrific. it was in the 40s—NICE! This year we had a terrific group of ABRAMS employees walk wth the ballon. Some were relative veterans, others totally new to the experience. View photos from the parade after the break!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and you’ve been focusing on your menu so much that you’ve forgotten to plot how you’re going to decorate the holiday table. Don’t stress it; there are quick and sure fire ways to make your table beautiful in no time flat.
Draw inspiration from the whole Bloomsbury aesthetic, it’s all things cozy, and when you zero in on the look, I think it really makes for easy entertaining. This style is all about not worrying if things match or not, and combining great textures and lots of earthy colors. I feel that most of us have many of the elements needed for this kind of entertaining already on hand at home. It’s just a matter of putting it all together. The possibilities open up without the pressure of needing a complete set.

I love parades. It’s true! I’ve been on the sidelines of parades for years while my kids were in marching band, but my favorite is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade which I am lucky enough to march in. I’ve marched in the last two Thanksgiving Day Parades and it has been an extraordinary experience and surprisingly hard work. Read some interesting balloon facts after the break!

All over the city, on Thanksgiving morning, ABRAMS employees dragged ourselves out of bed at 4:00 and made their way to a hotel where hundreds of happy volunteers (I’m not kidding, they smile and praise you and treat you like visiting royalty) outfitted us (very heavy coveralls, gloves, hat, pinafore for your character), took up my pant legs(!) and put us on buses to our balloon.

Everyone in the office is excited about Thanksgiving this week. Lots of people are going home and looking forward to relaxing with their families and eating great food. But, for 25 of us there is another reason to be a little giddy about Thursday – we are marching with the Wimpy Kid balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
